Phyllis Stiles

March 19, 1927 — October 7, 2020

Phyllis Nannette Kragrud

Phyllis Nannette Kragrud Stiles went to be with her Lord on October 7, 2020.  She was 93 years old. Our beloved matriarch has been laid to rest at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM beside her adoring husband, L.C.  A memorial service will be held in the near future.

Phyllis Nannette was born March 19,1927, in Casper, Wyoming to Essie Dell Wilson and Roy Arthur Kragrud, Sr. She spent her childhood ice skating through Wyoming’s chilly winters and especially loved to tap dance and twirl the baton.  Upon graduation from high school, Phyllis moved with her parents and younger brother, Roy Arthur, Jr., to Roswell, NM and worked at Pecos Valley Drug.  It was there that she met the love of her life, L.C. Stiles. They wed on March 28, 1947 and were married for 66 years until L.C.’s death in 2013.

She is survived by three wonderful children, Larry Charles Stiles of Roswell, NM, Vicki Stiles Winder of Granbury, TX, and Ricky Taylor Stiles of San Diego, CA.  Phyllis and L.C. delighted in their 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, as well as their numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Stiles were excellent business partners in their plaster and stucco business for several decades. Phyllis loved to read, write in her journal, sketch, draw and paint. Phyllis enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing hymns and songs.  In their later years, Phyllis and L.C. spent time in the mountains of Ruidoso as she called it her “little slice of heaven.” Their family attended First Baptist Church and Phyllis’s faith in Jesus was of highest importance to her. She faithfully studied the Bible for years and applied what she learned as Phyllis was truly full of joy, forgiveness, peace, serenity and love. Phyllis, Mom and Mama will be greatly missed as she was deeply loved by all her family and everyone who knew her!

Memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church, 500 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Roswell, NM 88201.

We are grateful for the sacrificial caregivers at Heartfelt Manor and the exceptional care our grandparents received there in their final days on earth.
