Michelle Rhodes

April 4, 1966 — March 26, 2022

Michelle Rene (Shellie) Rhodes recently passed away at her home in Lubbock, TX. Shellie was born to Frank and Linda Rhodes on April 4, 1966. Shellie was raised in Hagerman, NM where she attended school through her Junior year. She then transferred to Goddard High School her Senior year, where she graduated in 1984. After graduating high school Shellie attended Bauder Fashion College in Fort Worth, TX where she received a degree in Interior Design.

Shellie always had a passion for things that were unique and different. She had a flair for fashion and loved decorating her own place with her unique fashion styles. She enjoyed going to antique stores where she loved looking at, picking through, and buying articles that were out of the ordinary. Shellie was also fascinated with antique cars and old movies.

Shellie had one of the biggest hearts in the world, especially when it came to animals. Growing up and well into her adult life, Shellie had a passion for white tigers and possessed an unfulfilled dream of one day owning her own. Consequently, throughout the years, she settled on owning and loving many white cats. In addition to tigers, Shellie was fascinated with deer. Recently, on a road trip with her dad to the old Rhodes homestead in Buffalo Valley, she became so enthralled with the beauty and grace of the deer on the side of the road that she asked her dad to stop the truck so they could watch and enjoy them.

Shellie is survived by her parents, Frank and Linda Rhodes of Roswell, NM, her sister Layne Collis and her husband John, of Hunt, TX, and her brother, Bob Rhodes and his wife, Tina of Hagerman, NM. She is also survived by her aunt Jane Andrus and her husband Jerry of Roswell, NM and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, the family is very thankful to Les Moore who looked after Shellie through the years and was a kind and caring confidant to her throughout her time in Lubbock.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to your favorite charity in memory of Shellie Rhodes.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Hagerman with John Collis officiating.
