Manuel S. Garcia received his wings on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, born on November 6, 1937 in Arabela, NM to Manuelita Garcia and Antonio Garcia who have preceded him in death along with several siblings.

He is survived by his wife Isabel Garcia; sisters Onofre Robles and Lorencita Gonzales and husband Adolfo.  Manuel is the father of Manuel Garcia and wife Jennifer of Roswell, Lazaro Garcia of Texas, and Christopher Garcia and wife Victoria of Texas.  Grandchildren are Jordan Garcia, Ariel Johnson and husband Christian, Remington Wilson and husband Cameron, Athena LaVolpa and husband Daniel, Kennedy Garcia, Christopher Garcia Jr, Arianna Villa, and Angie Katcher.  He has 6 Great Grand Children and several nephews and niece.

Manuel joined the US Navy at the age of 17 and served until his retirement as a Petty Officer 1st Class.  Following his time in the Navy he went to Eastern New Mexico University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Social Work.  He did social work for Eddy County and Chaves County with CYFD until he retired.  He was dedicated to the service and care of people and following his retirement he would continue to volunteer with the Literacy Council of Roswell while dedicating many hours to Adoration, Eucharistic Minister, and serving as Sacristan for Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Roswell, NM.

We are asking that any donation be made to his favorite charity, St Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 in lieu of flowers.

Manuel’s cremains will be placed to rest at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church at a later date and no service will be held until after COVID.
