Lisa Mcclellan

February 5, 1957 — February 11, 2022

After a fruitful life of serving the Lord and helping the lonely, lost and unfortunate, Lisa Carol McClellan was promoted to Heaven on February 11, 2022.

Lisa was born in Roswell on February 5, 1957, a few minutes ahead of her twin brother Mark.

Growing up, Lisa was very athletic; excelling in gymnastics, tumbling and tennis. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1975 and New Mexico State University in 1981. Lisa was an Elementary Teacher for many years and then worked at McClellan Oil Corp. with her brother Mark.

More important than her professional life, Lisa found that she had the heart of a servant and traveled the world with Campus Crusade for Christ, spreading the Gospel in Russia, China, all over Europe and South America...not to mention her favorite, Africa, where she worked with children, handed out Bibles and showed the Jesus Film in whatever language fit the country they were serving.

Touched by a Billy Graham Crusade, Lisa generously supported Samaritans Purse and Operation Christmas Child. One of her greatest thrills was being invited to the celebration of 100 million shoe boxes by Samaritans Purse, where she met Franklin Graham, Michael W. Smith and Ricky Skaggs. After the celebration in Orlando, Fl., she then got to travel with Franklin Graham to Haiti to hand out the gifts and minister to the people.

Lisa never met a lost soul that she didn't try to help. In 2003 she met a broken man, Brad Ussery, and helped make a life changing difference in him -they were married in 2005. Lisa and Brad moved to Albuquerque in 2009 and together they managed the Salvation Army Adult Rehab Program, where she led many to Christ. Getting homesick, Lisa and Brad returned to Roswell in 2011 to semi-retire (yeah right). Shortly afterward, the opportunity to take on the responsibility of managing the Community Kitchen was offered and Lisa jumped in with both feet, making the patrons feel welcome and cared about, while Brad handled the food part. She was very instrumental in fund raising and designed and decorated the current building. She always made sure the people had things they needed, be it soap, deodorant, a warm coat, gloves, socks, shoes....Lisa would get it for them.

Lisa was a long time member of Grace Community Church, where she was involved in many ministries. Lisa funded an Easter Outreach project where Grace members distributed a Billy Graham movie to every household in Roswell. She really enjoyed her Tuesday morning small group and Rick Hale's Thursday Bible Study.

One of her favorite stories was when a homeless man made his way into her small group at Grace Community Church, taking a few of the members of bit "off guard." After he left, and others gained their second breath, Lisa said, "oh that's no biggie. That's a typical day around Community Kitchen. He left with a hand full of "Our Daily Breads" and several Bibles - one of those Bibles was Lisa's which she freely offered him. Nothing unusual for Lisa.

Lisa was preceded in eternal life by her parents, Jack & Barbara McClellan and brother in law Rick (Ricardo) Roberts. She is survived by her husband Brad Ussery, her twin brother Mark McClellan and his wife Paula of Roswell, their daughter Sara and husband Justin Nine and children Foster, Autumn and Ollie Nine of Golden, Colorado, daughter Jill and husband Scotty West and their kids Landon, Evan and Nora of Lufkin, Texas, their son Ross McClellan, his wife Kandace and their kids Lincoln and Collins of Roswell, NM. Lisa's sister Suzanne Roberts of Roswell, NM, son Tyrell Roberts, his wife Kristina and their daughter Kymber of Azle, Texas, daughter Renee, husband Josh Hudson, their children Kinsleigh and twins Hank & Remi of Roswell, NM.

Per Lisa's wishes there will be a Family Funeral Service and Interment of Ashes on Friday February 18th, followed by a Public Memorial/Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM at Community Kitchen, 114 East Bland Street.

In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for someone less fortunate in memory of Lisa, or make a donation to either; Harvest Ministries P.O. Box 3993 Roswell, NM 88202 or Community Kitchen P.O. Box 3010 Roswell, New Mexico.

The Time Has Come
There comes a time when God calls each of us,
When earthly bodies turn from living to dust.
We will all take this journey sooner or later,
To live and be with the One who is our Creator.
When we leave this world we have come to know,
A better world awaits for God has told us so.
We should not be afraid for God is always near,
To soon take away our pain, suffering and fear.
We as Christians question why we all have to die,
But when we get to heaven we will all know why.
As we get closer and walk through the narrow gate,
We will wonder why we wanted to arrive so late!
Sure we will miss our family we so cherish and love,
But will be waiting eagerly for them in heaven above.
