Georgia "Dolly" Amos

October 2, 1943 — December 4, 2021

Georgia Eleanor Amos (Dolly to all who knew her). Gained her heavenly wings Saturday December 4, 2021 at 78 years old in Roswell, New Mexico.

Mom was born to Annie Gray Bower Haley and Richard Ward Paul Haley on October 2, 1943 in Newport News, Virginia.

Mom met her soulmate, Timothy Amos Sr. in California and married July 15, 1967 in Reno, Nevada.

They enjoyed life in California but chose to move to the beautiful desert of New Mexico to raise their family. They made their home in Roswell, New Mexico with their children Sonjia Marie, Timothy Jr, and Susan Ann.

Mom was a people person and had an infectious laugh and smile. She was a certified nursing assistant working with elderly in nursing homes, she later moved on to at home care.  All of her clients loved her happiness and wonderful caring nature.  She almost considered them family.

Mom was an avid fisherman.  She loved fishing with dad at Lake Van and Bonito Lake.  Their favorite place was flyfishing at the San Juan river in Northern New Mexico.

Mom and Dad loved riding their motorcycles into different rallies and did the Santa Toy Run every December. They did the Golden Aspen Motorcycle rally in Ruidoso, New Mexico each year, collecting yearly pins and patches to put on their motorcycle vests.  Met new friends each year and caught up with old friends as well.

Deer and dove hunting were done also every year.  Lots of memories of picking feathers and dressing birds.  When Mom and Dad would come home from camping and deer hunting, we would get the leftover camping goodies, oatmeal pies, canned tamales and red chili and best of all…. cheese in a can.

Dolly is preceded in death by her husband Timothy Amos Sr., daughter Susan Ann Amos, also one sister Edwina Elliott of St. Charles Missouri.

She is survived by a sister Mabel Gronski and her husband John of Pennsylvania. Daughter Sonjia Breeden and her husband Johnny of Waco, Texas. Her son Timothy Amos Jr. of Roswell, New Mexico.

Mom’s grandchildren were her driving force, loved them all to the moon and back. Kevin Jay Clark and his fiancée Nicole Sampson of Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.  Chelsea Melendez and her husband Pedro of Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Ray Gabriel Albarez Jr. and his wife Shauni of Lubbock, Texas, Lauren Ann Elliott and Hunter of El Paso, Texas.  Great grandchildren, Aiden Gutierrez, Evangeline Clark and Liam Clark, Bernardino and Karoline Melendez, Brooklyn, Kinslee and Braxton Albarez. They were all so special to Mamaw and Papaw. Also, numerous nieces and nephews across the United States.

There are no services scheduled at this time. A notice will go out in the Spring of 2022.  Mom and Dads ashes will be scattered at their beloved Bonito Lake and campground.

Donations will be lovingly appreciated to the Susan G. Komen foundation, or the Roswell Refuge in honor of Susan Amos.
