On November 15, 1948, St. Mary's Hospital in Roswell, NM was blessed with the birth of William Lawrence Oldrup. His proud parents were Jane and Roy Oldrup.
Larry loved being outdoors, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer all his life.
Larry graduated from Roswell High School in 1967 and continued his education at ENMU in Portales where he became a member of Pi Kappa Alpha.
He got to experience the Albuquerque student unrest over the Vietnam War as he was a member of the NM National Guard.
Larry was blessed with two wonderful children, Lisa and Erik. Lisa's untimely death at the age of 26 broke his heart. But he was so proud of his son Erik who works for Homeland Security in Jacksonville, Florida.
Larry's most famous profession was designing and building the Claim Restaurant and Saloon under the Hilltop House. A unique place of art work built like an old mine. He was part owner of the Claim and the Hilltop House, formerly the Ramada Inn.
Larry is survived by his son Erik Oldrup, his wife Elena and children Sarbi, and Amir. His sister Jane Ann Oldrup lives in Roswell.
