William Mcteigue

A rosary will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, October 19, 2017 at St. Jude Catholic Church in San Patricio, NM with mass to follow at 3 pm also at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Salcido Family Cemetery at Alamo Canyon.

Bill, 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Alamo Canyon surrounded by his family. He was a longtime resident of Hondo, NM and member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in San Patricio, NM. Bill was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in WWII. He was a hard worker but on his free time he enjoyed going to the race track in Ruidoso Downs, going to parades and eating at Red Lobster and Chinese food. Bill also enjoyed listening to Spanish and western music, one of his favorite songs was "From a Jack to a King" by Ricky Van Shelton.

His employment consisted of running a Sheep Shearing crew, Air Conditioning Technician at Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, NM, Bus Driver for the Hondo Public Schools and Concession Stand Manager for Ruidoso Downs Race Tracks.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Cleotilde McTeigue (Lucero); his daughter Yvonne Zumwalt; son Walter McTeigue; brothers Lincoln McKinley, Alfred and Jimmy McTeigue; sisters-in-law Rose, Nora, Ramona and Alice McTeigue.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty-four years Johnnie McTeigue; sons Curtis McTeigue
(Cindy) of Weed, NM, Michael McTeigue (Deidre) of Hondo, NM and Jerome McTeigue (Loretta) also of Hondo, NM; sister-in-law Elizabeth "Libby" Sambrano and friend Lewis Cole of Brownfield, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law P.J. and Vicky Salcido of Hondo, NM; nineteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A special thanks is given to P.J. and Vicky Salcido and to the staff of Encompass Health Care and Hospice.

Serving as pallbearers are Shane McTeigue, Gerald McTeigue, Bobby Jo McTeigue, Frank "Pancho" McTeigue, Anthony McTeigue and Deano McTeigue. Honorary pallbearers are Curtis McTeigue, Michael McTeigue, Jerome McTeigue and P.J. Salcido.
