Virginia Gilchrist

Funeral Service for Virginia May Gilchrist at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel and a Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 pm at Lovington Cemetery with Pastor Charles Ivey of Tatum Church of Christ officiating. Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Sunset Villa.

Virginia May Gilchrist was born March 11, 1921 to Matt Vernon and Lela May Ivey in Thurber, Texas.

She attended schools in Knox City, Sunset and Aspermont and graduated from O'Brien in 1940. Virginia and her family moved to Meadow, Texas in 1947 and to McDonald, New Mexico in 1949 where she continued to live until 2015.
She was a member of the Tatum Church of Christ, Tatum Bridge Club, and enjoyed the Tatum Sr. Citizens.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Sherron Holms of Roswell, NM; 2 granddaughters, Shalisa Heath and husband Mike of Dexter, NM; Shea Winchester and husband Mike of Roswell, NM. She also leaves 9 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her only son, Gregory Gilchrist in 1966; 2 granddaughters, her parents and 4 siblings. Virginia was the family's strength, rock and love, we will always cherish her memory.
