Vernon Lee Gilmore
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2006 at Ballard Funeral Home for Vernon Lee Gilmore who passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Harold Hobson will officiate.
Vernon was born on July 9, 1919 to Lee and Helen Fellows Gilmore. Both parents precede him in death.
Vernon married Frances Murry Gale on July 12, 1941 in Rockford Illinois. She precedes him in death as well as one grandson Mark Gilmore.
He is survived by his sons: Tom Gilmore of Boise, Idaho, Charles Gilmore and wife Ellen of Cypress, Texas and John Gilmore and wife Joanie of Roswell, NM; his daughter: Mary Gale Walsh and husband Jack of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister: Dorothy Sawdey and husband Dale of Roswell, NM; his grandchildren: Thomas Gilmore, Jason Gilmore, Shawn Walsh, Robyn Walsh, Lee Gilmore and Beth Gilmore; and his great grandchildren: Alina Gilmore, Davis Walsh, McKendry Walsh.
Vernon was a member of First Methodist Church, past district governor Lions International, past President and secretary treasure and member of East Grand Plains Lions Club for over 40 years and also the past few years at Roswell Downtown Lions Club, Chaves County School Employee Credit Union Board. Vernon and his wife Fran loved to travel and visited such places as Alaska, Novi Scotia and through out the US many times. While he was in Illinois he was in active in Illinois Farm Bureau. Honorary Pall bears will be Marion and Mary Joe Richards, Drew and Dorothy Hamill, Vick and Donna Hamill, Freda Hefner, all Lions Club members.
