Tony S. Torres
In Loving Memory of Tony S. Torres, Loving Father, and Grandfather: Tony S. Torres passed away on Thursday December 30, 2021, he was 78 years old.
He is survived by 2 his sons that still reside in Long beach; Anthony Greg Torres (54) his wife Lani and their son Kai, and his youngest son Joseph Louis Torres (46) his wife Elizabeth, and their 2 sons Trystan Alexander Torres (16), and Joseph Evan Torres (11).
Tony entered this world in Lake Gregory, N.M. on November 18, 1944, then grew up on a small ranch outside of Lincoln and then later in Roswell. After a while playing in bands around town, he then enlisted in the army national guard out of Fort Bliss were learned how to operate tanks and other electronic devices. After receiving an honorable discharge, he then entered college and the electronics field that followed. This field took him to positions in Alamogordo, Los Alamos, and then to companies in his new hometown of Long Beach, CA. Eventually he took a position at California State University of Long Beach as the senior technical supervisor of the Physics and Astronomy department where he helped educate some of todays brightest scientists. He retired in 2015.
Tony and his youngest son had many adventures together, wither on his sons’ boat out in the ocean or on a trip to the mountains they shared a strong relationship that could only be described as best friends. Their friendship and the great many conversations they had, guided his young son on how to be a kind, gentle, and loving husband and father. They had a great relationship.
Tony was proceeded in death by both of his parents: Louis B. Torres, & Amanda Torres who are side beside each other here in South Park Cemetery.
Tony was a kind, charitable, and loving soul.
He will surely be missed…
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel. Tony will be laid to rest at General Douglas L. McBride Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 1, 2022 here in his true hometown of Roswell N.M. The honor guard from Fort Bliss will oversee his burial.
