Thomas Russell Brown
A Private family service will be held in Ruidoso for Thomas Russell Brown, age 80, of Roswell, who passed away Sunday, January 14, 2007. Toms grandson, Pastor Gerald Thomas Brown of El Paso, will officiate.
Thomas was born on September 20, 1926 to Henry Harrison and Marie Thompson Brown in Alamosa, Colorado. Both parents precede him in death as well as one sister Kathryn Hack.
Thomas married Betty L. Harden in Albuquerque, NM on December 20, 1947. She survives him at the family home.
Thomas is survived by his sons: Charles R. Randy Brown of Roswell, David R. Rusty Brown and wife Ruth Ann of Dexter, NM, Thomas R. Tommy Brown and wife Sharon of Heber City, Utah and William R. Rob Brown of Belmont Shore, CA.; his daughter: Kathryn L. Kathy Leitch and husband Robert of Albuquerque, NM; his grandchildren: Lee, Cody, J.D., Mike, Tom, Rosemary, Betsy and Chris and seven great grandchildren. Thomas is also survived by his niece Barbara Duda and nephew Ted Hack, both of Southern California.
Tom joined the Navy at age 17, seeing action in the South Pacific during WWII before earning an honorable discharge. He worked in communications in the Navy, which led him to his lifes work in computer programming. Thomas was one of few people who worked for the Atomic Energy Commission in Los Alamos on secret tests, that he refused to discuss. After moving the family to Roswell in 1968 he worked for Thiokol. He ended up his career at the Transportation Manufacturing Company, retiring from the planning
ision.
He was of the Methodist faith. He loved to fish, was an avid Lobo Football fan and enjoyed to study history.
His greatest disappointment in life is the failure of the local cable television company to provide adequate coverage of UNM Sports.
