Robert Sedillo Gutierrez
Robert S Gutierrez, known as "Uncle Bob," to all those who loved him, left his earthly home and entered heaven's gates on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. He was born to Joe and Lola Gutierrez on July 8, 1940 in Roswell, New Mexico.
Robert was raised in the Hondo Valley. As a young boy he spent his time climbing the hills and canyons, swimming and fishing in the Hondo River, visiting family and friends. There was always work to be done on the family farm, ranch and orchards. He lived somewhat a tough early life, growing up and working hard alongside his parents. He was the eldest of his siblings, and as the older brother he helped his mother with the chores and animals. He was driving a truck and tractor as a little kid, driving his grandmother to Roswell at the age of 12. He worked in construction for many years, building roads, subdivisions, parking lots, he was a heavy equipment operator, and even blasted mountains to pieces. He worked as a machinist in California, and he was also a business owner-partner with his brother, operating an auto mechanic garage. “Uncle Bob" was a vibrant soul filled with bravery, humor, and a fearless spirit. He was curious and inquisitive, always questioning, never really content with an answer. He would investigate his questions, reading everything he could find about the subject he was interested in at the time. “Uncle Bob" will forever live in our hearts and will be remembered always as the great man that he was! He was the family historian, he was an antique collector, he had a very green thumb every seed he planted grew, he was a rockhound, geologist, he loved rocks, he loved the Hondo Valley, his homeland.
Robert is preceded in death by his beloved parents (Joe and Lola Gutierrez) and sons (Fernando Gutierrez and Ervin Gutierrez).
Robert lives on in the hearts of his children Rhonda Gutierrez, Gene Gutierrez. Kevin Torrez. and Erika Gutierrez, Sisters: Virginia Miller, Priscilla Chavez, Darlene Torrez, Brothers: Joe Gutierrez Jr., Orlando Gutierrez, Jerry Gutierrez; 11 grandchildren Sarah. Amanda, Kevin Jr, DeeDee, Christopher, Able, Miracle, Ervin Jr, Roman, Cielo, Emily, and Haley.
Robert’s remains will be buried at the Hondo Cemetery in Hondo, New Mexico.
