Ramon "Carlitos" Montoya III, born on October 7, 1999, in Roswell, New Mexico, passed away on August 25, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. He was a cherished son, brother, uncle, godson, and friend who left an indelible mark on all who knew him. A beloved figure in his community, Carlitos carried with a spirit of joy and a passion for life encapsulated in his favorite saying, "I'm here for a good time, not a long time."
Carlitos graduated from Roswell High School in 2018, where he was active in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and developed skills in auto mechanics. He further pursued his passion for craftsmanship by obtaining an Associate's degree in Welding in 2020. His dedicated career in the oil and gas industry as a welder showcased not only his technical prowess but also his unwavering commitment to hard work.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Carlitos found joy in fishing, hunting, and enjoying cookouts with family and friends. He was known for his love of cruising with loud music, engaging in yard work, and gardening. His generous spirit was evident as he often took the time to help others, whether it was changing oil and tires on their vehicles or simply visiting with neighbors. What started as a "quick" trip to the store often turned into an all-day outing because of the many connections he had forged.
He is survived by his loving mother, Reynalda Montoya; his sister, Cassandra Montoya; and his brothers, Anthony Montoya and wife Rudi, Chris Montoya and wife Nicole, and Adrian Lozano and wife Maribel. He held a special place in his heart for his nephews Anthony Montoya Jr and Alex Montoya, his niece Catalina Lozano, and his goddaughter Aliana Montoya. Carlitos also treasured his "Best Friend" Emma-Rae, and shared a close bond with his "Favorite cousin" Nora Montoya. He is survived by his Tio's Louis Montoya Jr and Patrick Lopez, and his favorite Tia Nita Montoya, along with Paula Montoya, his special great-Tia. He leaves behind numerous cousins, including Pete Lopez, Louis III, Julian, Yazzi, Nayelli, Leroy, Lisette, Lil Victor, Yvette, Annette, Selina, Joseph, and Victoria, as well as many Tia's and Tio's.
Carlitos was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Rose Ann Montoya, and his Tio's Big Vic, Frank, and Bubba.
Pallbears will be: Anthony Montoya, Chris Montoya, Nora Montoya, Hector Garcia, Adrian Lozano, Marco Solis, Fermin Portillo and Juan Canales.
Honorary Pallbears: Tony Wyatt, Abel Zavala, Anthony Montoya Jr, Julian Montoya, Alex Montoya, Spike Molinar, Emma-Rae Montoya, Cassandra Montoya and George Rivera.
A viewing will be held at Ballard Chapel on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at St. Peters Catholic Church in Roswell, New Mexico, on Wednesday September 3, 2025, at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at South Park Cemetery.
Carlitos Montoya's legacy is defined by his vibrant personality, his love for family and friends, and his unyielding enthusiasm for life. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished in the hearts of those he touched.
