On October 6, 1962, Phillip J. Wilmore was born in Albuquerque, NM. He attended several schools throughout his life, while his father served in the military. He graduated High School at Yokota Air Base, Tokyo Japan in 1981. He traveled throughout the world and enjoyed his experiences of different cultures and peoples, in which he displayed great joy during his travels throughout life. He returned back to Albuquerque, NM in 1982 where he began his career in the retail industry. Phillip progressed in the retail industry where he eventually became store manager for Smith’s grocery in Edgewood, New Mexico, then retiring in 2005. He then moved to Roswell, NM to be with his parents Dolores and Thomas McKinney to assist them during their elderly years to serve and care for them during those final years. He was generous, kind, grateful, and faithful in God our lord Jesus Christ. His love for our lord and his church was undeniable. He especially liked to frequent the Poor Claire monastery here in Roswell, which brought him great joy and peace. He always loved to give to those in need and offer warm words of encouragement. However, he always stated this quote: “It’s the Journey not the destination.”
“Eternal Father, we commend to You the soul of Your servant, who has just departed from this earthly life. In Your mercy, receive them into the arms of Your love. Forgive any sins committed through human weakness, and cleanse them by the blood of Christ. May their journey be swift and their rest eternal. Bring comfort to those who mourn, and give us the peace of knowing that death is not the end, but the beginning of life with You. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
