Nola Overholt

Mrs. Overholt made her final goodbyes and left this old world at the age of 97. Her long life began on November 20, 1920 in Picher, Oklahoma. She was born to Daniel Demaree and Laura Rosander with both of her parents preceding her in death.
Nora was a complex lady, being a mixture of class, intelligence, beauty and entrepreneurship; there was nothing she couldn't do. She first came to Roswell almost 70 years ago when the military base closed. The city of Roswell put out a nationwide advertisement asking people to invest in the city and she did. The houses there were being sold for pennies on the dollar and her brother, who was in real estate, convinced her to buy several properties. She was one of the original "flippers" buying these homes, fixing them up, and then turning around and selling them. In a relatively short period of time she became a self-considered "guru" and quickly took to real estate as a duck takes to water.
Mrs. Overholt's talents were not just exclusive to the real estate market. She loved to sew and used this talent to make a name for herself. Several years ago she made a trip into the Roswell UFO Museum and noticed that something was missing from their exhibits. She went home, put fabric to machine, and turned out the museums first alien doll. The alien even received a letter of authenticity from the city and soon she had orders streaming in from all over the world. You will find her work proudly displayed not only here but also in Germany and Australia. She possessed the true heart and passion of the entrepreneur always finding a way for her to make her own money.
Nora loved life and enjoyed every moment with a celebrant spirit and enthusiasm for trying new things. She was fearless in her endeavors and set a standard for how life can be lived to the fullest. The legacy she leaves us will be the alien dolls in the Roswell museum, houses she invested her time and energy into, and unconditional love that her family can always take security in.
She is survived by her son Mac Overholt and Sandra of Tulsa OK; 3 siblings also survive her. She is preceded in death by her parents; son Duke Overholt; and daughter Penny Bowles.
Per her wishes a cremation will take place with burial to follow in Oklahoma at a later date.
