Martha Meeks

Martha Jane Meeks, known to most as Janie (Woody), passed away with family by her side, after an eight-month fight with stage 4 renal cancer on May 15, 2017.

Janie was born in Roswell, NM, on February 10, 1958, to William M. Woody and Katherine F.(King) Woody. Both parents have preceded her in death. She was one of 5 children born in this family.

Janie attended Dexter schools all her childhood and graduated from there in 1976.
On March 4, 1977, Janie married the love of her life Richard G. Meeks, who has also preceded her in death. They had two sons, which are left behind; Jeremey D. Meeks, and Kyle Meeks. Kyle's wife and Janie's loving caregiver Cassie Meeks. Janie had 6 grandchildren; Richard, Jeremey Jr, Daniel, Austin, Katie, & Dayton Meeks.

Janie worked as a front desk clerk at National 9 Inn for 17 years and 2 months until the diagnosis and treatments of her illness kept her from returning to work.

She leaves behind two sisters and brothers-in-law; Nancy and Chuck Christensen, Ruth and Tony Leyba; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Mark (Clay)and Gwen Woody, John and Charlene Woody. Five Nephews; Kim Brewer, Randy and Mike Robertson, Jacob and Joshua Woody. And one very special niece, Evelyn Woody.

Janie wished to be cremated and buried at the foot of our loving mother. Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM. Services will be conducted by dear family friend Pastor Hoye Sparkman.
A gathering for food and fellowship will follow directly after at 6234 Devonian St, Roswell, NM
