Maria Romero

Maria Elena was born on August 18, 1946 to Ricardo and Maria Rosario Soltero in Valle De Allende, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was a longtime resident of Hagerman, NM. Maria and Robert were married on April 17, 1971. Together, they had four sons. Maria worked for the Hagerman school district for many years where she retired in 2014. She loved all the students throughout the years.

She was a very loving person who adored her boys and grandchildren. She would never let you leave her house without having something to eat. Her red chile was her specialty and her enchiladas were loved by many. Maria was the type of person who would accept anyone despite their faults. She had a big heart and was always willing to do for others. She was the matriarch of her family but had no problem disciplining her somewhat rowdy boys. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Maria was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother Jesus Soltero, her baby daughter, and numerous cousins and relatives.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Romero, her sons; Sabino Romero, Ernesto Romero, Orlando Romero and his wife Nicole, and Lionel Romero; her extended family's sons and daughters; Robert Romero Jr. and his wife Doreen, Ralph Romero and his wife Bernadette, Terri Guerrero and her husband David, Virginia Rondon and her husband Rafael; grandchildren; Audriana Romero, Lucas Romero, Noel Romero, Danae Pacheco, Nicholas Romero, Sabrina Romero, Aubreyana Romero, Melanie Romero, Brieanna Romero, Roman Romero, Isabella Romero, Marina Romero; her extended grand-children; her great-grandchild; Alazae Ruiz, and her four sisters; Gloria Bejarano and her husband Conrado, Maria Gomez and her husband Ezekial Gomez, Olga Cadengo, Maria Pando (Chayo) and her husband Eliseo.

Visitation will be held at St. Catherine's Catholic Church on Thursday February 22, 2018 in Hagerman NM from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM. Mass will be held at St. Catherine's on Friday February 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM with interment at Hagerman Cemetery.
