Maria Cruz Cruzita G. Berrones
A rosary and vigil will be Sunday, January 28, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church. The mass of resurrection will be on Monday, January 29, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church. Fr. Juan Montoya, O.F.M. OF St. Johns Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery. Reception will follow at the Ave Maria Center, 401 E. Bland St.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. January 28, 2007 at Ballard Funeral Home.
Maria was 88; she entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 18, 2007 in San Gabriel, CA. She was born on May 3, 1918, in Dr. Arroyo, N.L. Mexico. She married Porfirio on January 16, 1946. She and Porfirio immigrated to the United Stated in 1946 as newly weds. Maria was a Roswell resident for 55 years and was preceded in death by her husband, Porfirio C. her daughter, Magdalena B. Villa, her mother Longina L. Guzman and in laws, Gerardo and Camilla Berrones.
She is survived by her daughters, Sister Sofia, MCDP, of San Jose, California, Soledad B. and Tony Feliz of San Gabriel, CA. and sons, Henry Berrones, of Roswell, NM, Porfirio Paul and Diane M. Berrones, Jr., of Reseda, CA, Manuel Berrones and a brother, Crescenizo Guzman of Dr. Arroyo, N.L. Mexico, a son in law Jack Villa of Roswell, NM.
She was blessed with 17 adoring grandchildren and 11 esteemed great grandchildren.
Maria was a life time member of the Guadalupana Organization at St. Johns Catholic Church.
She was a faithful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, comadre and madrina. We will miss mom beyond words, but we will treasure her memory of love, sacrifice and devotion to family, friends and faith.
She will be fondly remembered for her enterprising spirit, adventurous heart and faith-filled life. She was blessed with several life-time dreams: a visit to the Vatican where she received a blessing from Pope John Paul II, becoming a naturalized citizen and voting for the first time in her life for president Clinton and seeing her president at a public audience in Tucson and making a pilgrimage to our lady of Guadalupe Basilica in Mexico City.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ryan Oram, Anthony Joseph Feliz, Andre Feliz, Roman Berrones, Rey Berrones, Luke Berrones, Christian Berrones, Jose E. Berrones, Jr., Jackie Villa.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Crescenzio Guzman, Vicky and Martin Guzman, Juanita and Bonifacio Gallegos, Chacha and Arnulfo Lozoya, Paula and Jimmy Montoya, Carmen Ornelas and family and the Guadalupana Organization.
The family will receive family and friends at 203 N. Kansas, Roswell, NM.
