In Loving Memory of
Lendon "Charlie Brown" Charles York
October 4, 1960 - November 2, 2025
Lendon Charles York, lovingly known as Charlie Brown, age 65, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025.
He was born on October 4, 1960, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Charles Douglas York and JoAnn Miller.
Lendon dedicated his life to hard work, family, and faithfulness. He served the State of New Mexico with pride, working for the New Mexico Highway Department for 20 years as a surveyor and highway design specialist. After retiring from the state, he continued his public service with the City of Roswell's Engineering Department, where he worked another 20 years before retiring in July 2024.
Lendon was a loving, honest, and caring man who lived his life with integrity and devotion. His heart belonged to his late wife, Vanessa - the love of his life and partner for 39 years. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and countless memories. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose quiet strength and steady presence will be deeply missed.
He enjoyed dirt track races, fishing, camping, and cheering on his Denver Broncos - and sometimes even the Dallas Cowboys, just to keep up with his brother. Those who knew him will remember his warmth, his humor, and the way he could make everyone feel like family.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vanessa; granddaughter, Keilah; baby sister, Donna; his parents, Charles and JoAnn; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his daughter, Katrina Dowdy and partner Chris of Roswell, NM; son, Timothy York and wife Rosa of Roswell, NM; bonus daughter, Michelle and husband Mark Luman of Roswell, NM; brothers, Clendon York and wife Katherine of Carlsbad, NM, and Kendall York of Garland, TX; and sister, Jatonna Birchell and husband Dale of Spokane, WA.
Lendon is also survived by his grandchildren: Jonathan Renteria and wife Samantha of Albuquerque, NM; Domanyk York and Kayleigh of Roswell, NM; Elijah Jocelynn York, Aaliyah, and of Roswell, NM; bonus grandchildren Katelynn and Ali of Las Cruces, NM; Kallie and Cinco of Missouri; Jade and Jordan of Roswell, NM; and Journey and Frank of Roswell, NM. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Micheal, Madison, and Mia Renteria of Albuquerque, NM.
He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends he considered family.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell, NM.
Lendon "Charlie Brown" York will be remembered for his unwavering love, quiet strength, and gentle heart. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort knowing he is reunited with his beloved Vanessa - just where he's always wanted to be.
