Kim Joyce, 91, of Roswell, NM, passed peacefully on September 2, 2026 surrounded by loving family. She was born on May 2, 1935, the 5th of 9 children to Houston Sr. and Wynogene Hunter. Kim often told joyful stories of her upbringing in Roswell, NM and the memories she made with the close friend group she was part of from first grade well into her golden years. Kim married and spent over five decades loving her husband, Pat Joyce. Throughout that time taking on the role of rancher’s wife, becoming mother to 4 daughters, grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and great-grandmother to 15, Kim was also a lifelong congregant of the Methodist Church, member of the Assistance League, and member of the local PEO Chapter Z for over 50 years. She was a dedicated wife and mother, caring grandmother, and loyal friend. Whether it was book club, card group, a family get together, or lunch to catch up, Kim exemplified that life is best spent connecting with loved ones making memories doing the things you enjoy.
She is survived by her siblings and their spouses George and Janice Hunter, Sam and Sandy Hunter, Peggy and Tom Edmister, and brother-in-law Ron Ellis, her four daughters and their spouses, Valerie and Steve McKee, Debbie and Ben Coats, Trish and John Gull, and Kelly Verner, her grandchildren and their spouses, Michael McKee and Brittany Weaver, Kevin and Apple McKee, Chris Coats, Patrick and Emily Coats, Ashley Coats, Chance Coats, Kim and Mark England, John and Lori Whann, Bill Gull, and Jordan Gull and Brad DeSalvo, as well as her great-grandchildren Brenna Quinn Weaver-Mckee, Maggie, Ryan, Nathan, Ethan, Kylie, Harlow and Arden Coats, Ava, Lauryn, and Blakely Vernon, London and Kingston England, and John Whann IV. Kim will also be missed by many nieces and nephews who fondly remember her home cooking and fun times at the ranch.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Pat Joyce, parents Houston Sr. and Wynogene Hunter, siblings and their spouses Houston Hunter Jr., Thana and Judson Anderson, Beulah and Bob Oyler, Bama and Jim Crouse, and Sara Ellis.
A graveside service in her honor will be held Wednesday, September 9th, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM and Pastor Tina Cross of First United Methodist Church will officiate.
