Juan "John" Elizondo 

Juan “John” Elizondo, 64, passed away on June 3, 2024, at his home in Roswell, NM. He was the husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Elizondo. They would have shared 46 years of marriage together in July 2024. 

Born on July 12, 1959, in Littlefield, TX he was the son of Paz and Nolverta “Bert” Elizondo. He graduated from Spade High School in Spade, TX. John was a Retired Security Officer of the Roswell Independent School District, where he worked for 25 years at Goddard High School.

He loved playing basketball since a young child and played well into his adulthood in church leagues and local basketball tournaments. He also did several years of basketball and volleyball officiating. He was a lifetime Dallas Cowboys fan. John was a well-recognized and loved individual in the Roswell Community, there wasn’t a stranger he did not meet. He will be remembered for his kindness, silliness, and respectfulness towards others. He always wanted to see others smiling and didn’t miss an opportunity to crack a joke or try to make you laugh. He also never missed an opportunity to learn and to help someone out by being the unofficial handyman. 

He is survived by his spouse, Elizabeth “Betty” Elizondo, his children, Juan Miguel “Mike” Elizondo (Veronica) of Roswell, NM and Elizabeth K. “Katie” Elizondo Renfro (Gene) of Johnson City, TN; brothers Cirlo Garza of Anton, TX, Paz Elizondo, Jr. (Loretta) of Lubbock, TX, Eliseo Elizondo (Monica) of Taylor, TX; sisters Eusebia Sierra (Lolo) of Seguin, TX, Janie Garcia of Spade, TX, and Estella Elizondo of Lubbock, TX. Along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and his beloved pets, Alice, Oso, Pancho, and Casper. He is preceded in death by his mother Nolverta Baldovino Elizondo; his father, Paz Elizondo; older brother Richard Garza; younger brother, Edward Elizondo; father-in-law William F. Morgan, and mother-in-law Frankie Morgan. 

The viewing will be held on Sunday June 9, 2024 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, followed by the Rosary Service from 6:00PM to 7:00PM at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday June 10, 2024 from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at LaGrone Funeral Chapel with burial following immediately after at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM.
