A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Ballard Funeral Home for Joseph (Chuck) Lucero, 49, who passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 in Lubbock, TX surrounded by the love of his family. Funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 21, 2018 also at Ballard Funeral Home with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Ballard Funeral Home.
Joseph was born April 11, 1969 in Roswell, NM to Joseph S. Lucero and Amelia Herrera Lucero, both parents preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death are his sister Sandra Vale; nieces Angel and Savannah Vale, baby grandson Leroy Madrid; aunts Mary Polaco, Prestina, Tina and Malena.
Those left to carry on his memory are his wife Debbie Lucero; daughters Marissa Lucero (Matthew Romero), Annalysia Lucero (Jaime Aguilar), Merissa Ortega, Alicia Lopez and Krystal Ortega (Javier Madrid) all of Roswell; son Andrew Cobos of Roswell; sister Patsy Lucero of Roswell and six grandchildren Aubryana and Marciano Madrid, Adalyn and Aria Lucero, Sophia Cobos and Yandel Romero who loved their "Papo" very much!
Joseph was a very hard worker up until his retirement in 2012. He was an avid hunter, loved fishing, woodworking, building lowriders, cruising and garage sales. By far the thing he loved the most was spending time with his grandchildren who were his world.
Serving as pallbearers are Danny Herrera, Chito Herrera, Ray Vale, Matthew Lucero, Andrew Cobos, Mark Molinar and Ernesto Herrera. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy "Spike" Molinar, Albert Valenzuela Jerry Silva, Tito Tegeda, Isreal Pino, Matthew Romero, Jaime Aguilar, Dale Juarez, Javier Madrid and Marciano Madrid.
