Johnny was born August 5, 1967 in Huntington, West Virginia. Preceding him in death is his adoptive parents Laura and Claude Meadows.

He is also survived by his brothers: Michael Lovejoy of Roswell, Clay Lovejoy of Biloxi, Mississippi, Norman Helmstetler of Texarkana, Texas, and Allen Helmstetler of Huntington, West Virginia, sisters: Linda Holley of Prichard, West Virginia and Travina Hernandez of Roswell.

His parents Travis and Delores Helmstetler survive him in Roswell.
