A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Howard Herring of St. Peter Catholic Church officiating for John M. Arias, 84, who passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Roswell. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery with Roswell Veteran's Honor Guard providing military honors.
John "Lelo" Manuel Arias was born December 18, 1932 in El Paso, TX to Jose A. Arias and Concepcion Marquez Arias. He is preceded in death by his wife Guadalupe Pacheco Duran of 43 years. He is also preceded in death by both parents as well as brothers Ernesto R. Arias, Rafeal M. Arias; sister Carmen Arias; son Irvin Duran; daughter Yolanda Duran; granddaughter Vanessa Espinoza and grandson Alejandro Alex Duran.
He is survived by his brothers Alfred Arias and wife Lucy of Roswell, NM Eliso Arias and wife Emma of Roswell, NM; sister Josephine Arias of Sierra Vista, AZ. He is also survived by his sons Paul Narbaiz, Chris Duran; daughter Jennifer Duran and husband Albert Espinoza, Renee Duran and husband Raymond Romero, Regina Duran, Arturo Duran and wife Cassandra; grandchildren Sammy Duran, Fernando Lujan, Cynthia Duran, Angelita Romero, Christopher Duran, Erica Belsted, Jose Jr. Madrid, David Madrid and Nicholas Narbaiz; great grandchildren Amber Champagne Duran, Arturo Duran Jr., Desiray Nicole Duran, Anthony Ray Duran, Angelo Daniel Duran, Alijaah Jordan Duran, Mia Justice Duran, Nathaniel Duran, Lucas Duran, Vanessa Duran, Aliaize Acosta, Amanda Acosta, Anisa Acosta, Reanna Acosta, Emilio Acosta, Adrien Duran, Christopher Ray Duran Jr., Kristal Rey Duran, Destiny Rey Duran, Dominic Ray Duran and Ezmireya Duran.
John had worked for Coors and Budweiser since he was twenty-one and had retired at age sixty-five.
Serving as pallbearer's wills be Fernando Lujan, Sammy Duran, Arturo Duran, Christopher Duran, Cynthia Duran, and Edward Griego Arias. Honorary pallbearer's will be Angelita Romero, Anisa Acosta, and Angelo Duran.
