Jimmy Pope

January 11, 1944 — April 10, 2017

Jimmy Pope left this world with his family at his side on April 10, 2017 in Roswell NM at the age of 73.
Jimmy was born to A.T. Pope and Modele Foster on January 10, 1944 in Roswell NM and was a lifelong resident to the community.
His passing will leave a void that surly can never be filled.

Mr. Pope was raised in the Roswell area along with his brother Truitt and attended Roswell High School.
Jimmy had a love affair with classic cars and though he owned many during his life he had two that he cherished above all others:
his 57 Chevy Bel Air (one of the most recognizable American cars of all time) and his 1966 Pontiac GTO.
Jimmy had been a long time member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and like his father A.T. Pope,
loved to spend time there visiting with friends and relaxing when he had a little downtime.

One of his first jobs was working as a butcher before moving up to truck driver for Glovers; working there till they closed their doors.
Mr. Pope moved to Nova Bus and worked for them till he retired installing engines into the buses and providing maintenance for their continual operation.
Jimmy was active at home and loved to work in his shop. His shop had really become more of a toy shop where he would spend his time welding, putting motors together, and turning a wrench.

Jimmy was a loving husband and married to his wife of over thirty years, Beverly, before her passing in November 2016.
He was a caring and attentive father to his son Jerry Pope and always made sure to provide for his family.
He was a man who was good friends with everyone and had a big heart to go with his good nature.
He leaves a legacy of caring compassion and loving attentiveness to his family.

Jimmy Pope is survived by his son Jerry Pope and Jane Moore of Roswell NM; Brother Truitt Pope and Rosemary of the Boston Area; Grandchildren Joshua Pope and Megen Pope;
Great Grandchildren Ray Edie and Jacob Edie. He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Pope; Parents A.T. Pope and Modele Foster.
