Jennifer Harris-Hopkins

January 13, 1978 — September 15, 2016

Ms. Jennifer Hopkins left this place to be with her Lord on September 15, 2016 in Albuquerque NM. Jennifer was born to Robert and Gloria Harris in Roswell NM on January 13, 1978. Her father has preceded her in death.

Jennifer was a lively and free spirited young lady who would light up a room with her charisma and allure. She was the embodiment of social charm who lacked fear or hesitation when meeting new acquaintances making her the true "social butterfly" of any situation. The world was hers and she loved it every minute. Being outdoors and enjoying the New Mexico sun she loved biking or hiking, playing in a park, or just being with friends outside. As a kid she was all tom-boy and would show-up most boys her own age when it came to tree climbing. She learned how to ride a motorcycle when she was a teen and could swim like a fish by age four. There was nothing she couldn't do.

Jennifer was raised in a Christian family and had a soft heart for those who were in need. She could see the pain of others and with an unknowing anticipation do her best to right whatever wrong that person was going through. She was humble in her approach but doing a good deed was just her nature. Her kindness and Christian compassion was instilled in her at a young age as she watched her parents and learned how people should be treated. She was a true kid at heart and every year would look forward to Halloween. She loved dressing up and taking her family trick or treating in the neighborhood. She used the excuse that she did it for the kids but the truth was that she loved it as much as they did. Cooking was a passion and a desire that came from a place beyond necessity. She loved to see people enjoying what she had made and her own eyes would light up with the pleasure of a good meal. She was a steak and potatoes girl but could create works of art with her pies.

Jennifer married her long-time friend and love of her life Charles Hopkins on December 15, 2015. The two of them had met by accident ten years earlier in Roswell and soon became inseparable. Charles who is more introverted and Jennifer who is the iconic extrovert made the perfect balance of a relationship. She loved Charles deeply and brought him into her family with open arms. Their relationship was a huge part of each of their lives, and though they are temporarily separated, the love they shared will forever be kept in their hearts. Her touch and charm has left an indelible mark on so many lives, both directly in her presence and indirectly in her deeds, that the blessing of knowing her laughter and love will be a legacy left for all to remember and cherish for years to come.

Jennifer is survived by her husband Charles Hopkins of Dexter NM; mother Gloria Harris of Alamogordo NM; brother Christopher Harris of Alamogordo NM; sisters Marcella Reese and Rhodesia Reese of Roswell NM; and numerous family of cousins, aunts, uncles, and one niece. She is preceded in death by her father Robert Harris Jr.
