Jane "Beth" Elizabeth Bramblett

October 17, 1930 — March 21, 2026

Dexter

Jane Elizabeth (Beth) Bramblett died in her home, in Dexter, New Mexico, on March 21, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones.

Beth was born on October 17, 1930 in Odessa, Texas to Emmett Choat and Jimmy (McElroy) Choat. She spent her early years in Odessa before her family moved to Houston in 1941, where her father pursued work in an oil refinery after working as a carpenter.

After a brief stay in Houston, the family moved to Pasadena, TX for about a year before relocating in 1942 to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, crossing the Mississippi River by train car on a ferry on Easter Sunday. In 1944, they returned to Texas where she finished school that year in Jonesboro, Coryell County. That same summer, the family moved to Midland, TX where her father worked with her Uncle Jake in his furniture store. In June of 1946, they returned to Coryell County after her father purchased his father's farm.

It was there that Beth met her love, Marvin Bramblett. She first noticed him as they were walking into church one Sunday, and the rest, they say, is history. Beth and Marvin both graduated from Jonesboro High School in May 1948.

Following graduation, Beth worked at Coryell Memorial Hospital in Gatesville, TX, while Marvin attended Allen Military Academy in Bryan, TX. The two were married on January 24, 1949 in Bryan. After Marvin graduated, they moved to Dexter, New Mexico in January of 1952, with their two children, Steve and Patty. Their youngest, Ellen, was born a few years later.

Beth devoted herself to her family and quickly became a cornerstone of the Dexter community. She was actively involved in many organizations, including the PTA, church choir, Vacation Bible School, the Dexter school calendar, and Dexter Little League. She served as treasurer for Dexter Methodist Church from 1986-2015 and the treasurer of the Hagerman-Dexter Food Pantry for 13 years. Beth also enjoyed being the bookkeeper for Dexter Farm and Livestock Supply and their family farms. One of her greatest joys was the time she spent devoted to 4-H, playing cards with her local friends, square dancing and being a sports fan. In her spare time, she loved researching genealogy and sharing her findings with her family.

Beth is survived by her brother, James Choat. She and Marvin raised three children: Steve and Donna Bramblett from Bennington, OK; Patty and Jody Barnett from Clovis, NM; Ellen Bramblett and Frank Reed from Burnet, TX.

She is survived by eight grandchildren: Tammy Bramblett Wahlenmaier (Eddie) from Weatherford, TX; Will Bramblett (Julia) from Assaria, KS; Matt Bramblett from Weatherford, TX; Boggy Bramblett (Kara) of Montgomery, TX; J.O. Barnett (Mimi) from Montrose, CO; Blythe Barnett Simonson (David) from Castroville, TX; Brandon Kuykendall (Skylar Crossley) from Roswell, NM; and Lance Kuykendall from Alto, NM.

Beth was the proud grandmother of 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 more on the way. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many others whose lives she touched through her work in the Dexter community. In her later years, she formed a special bond with her and Marvin's caregivers.  Pilo Ramirez was also an integral part of Marvin and Beths' lives for almost 50 years.

Beth's greatest joy was her family, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion that will live on in each of them.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Bramblett; her parents, Emmett and Jimmy Choat, and sister Mary Helen Crowell.
