James Simpson

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for James W. Simpson, 82, who passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Pastor Harry Tackett of West Alameda Church of Christ will officiate. James will be cremated according to his wishes. Viewing will be held at Ballard Funeral Home, Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 9:00 to 4:00 pm.

James was born January 15, 1934 in Roswell, NM to Clifford Simpson and Bessie Mae Walker Simpson who both preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his sister Jane Powell.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifteen years Minnie Simpson who he loved dearly; his sons James Simpson Jr. and wife Lisa of Roberta, GA, Richard Simpson of Thailand and Danny Alford of Roswell, NM; daughter Christina Carter of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Samantha Simpson of Warner Robins, GA, Nicole Simpson of Macon, GA, Renna Alford of Roswell, NM, Caitlyn Carter and Matthew Carter of Jackson, FL. He is also survived numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

James served our country in the United States Army and Air Force. He was a faithful member of West Alameda Church of Christ. James had a big heart for animals, they were truly his best friends. He was an avid gun and knife collector and a jack of all trades. James had the biggest heart of gold. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
