Jacoba “Jackie” Lena Hopkins
Jackie, 66, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, at UMC of El Paso, Texas, with her husband of 46 years by her side.
Jackie was born September 1958, in Okinawa, Japan to a US Air Force family and lived in Germany, San Antonio and El Paso, Texas, where her family retired. In 1978 she became Mrs. Hopkins and continued to travel, living in Germany again then Ft. Benning, Georgia and Hawaii prior to moving to Midway where she was determined to stay.
Jackie was a simple woman who was not into the latest fashion and often preferred to spend time with her animals over people. The one exception being time at the casino, which she never passed up.
She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas Brand; mother, Ida (Wilmink) Brand and her sister Deborah Lee Brand.
She is survived by her husband Charles E. Hopkins of Midway, an estranged son Charles T. Hopkins of Roswell, and cousin Johan Wilmink of Roswell. She also has several cousins on the Brand side of the family from Avon, Ohio.
A memorial service (casual attire) will be held to celebrate her life on July 2, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation or contribution to a local charity, or Animal Welfare Organization. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Although she may be gone, the memories of Jackie will continue to bring smiles and warmth to those who miss her.
