Jacquita “Jackie” Williams
September 6, 1940 — March 26, 2026
Jacquita Clo (nee Smith) Williams, born on September 6, 1940, in Bokchito, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, in Roswell, New Mexico. Known as “Jackie,” she lived a full and meaningful life and leaves behind generations who carry her love and lessons forward.
Jackie graduated from Roswell High School in 1958 and then from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio in 1974. She then went on to devote many years working as a teacher in San Antonio and Houston. In her retirement, she moved back to Roswell to be near family.
She had a lifelong love of quilting and was an active member of the Pecos Valley Quilt Guild in Roswell for many years. Many quilts made in southeastern New Mexico were backed and bound by her thread.
Jackie also found joy in country music. Her favorite songs were Willie Nelson songs, and she always felt lucky to have seen George Strait play in a honkytonk outside Houston before he made it big.
Jackie held a special love for Texas bluebonnets, and it felt fitting that she passed during their peak bloom—a season she cherished.
In her passing, Jackie was surrounded by her four children: Allan (Greg) Black of Roswell, New Mexico; Sandra Roberson of Roswell, NM; Patricia Miller of Somerset, Texas; and Tracey Black of Boerne, Texas. She was the proud grandma to Tanya, Tiffany, James Tristan, William, Diane, Amanda, Alex, James Walter, Nicholas and 14 great‑grandchildren, all of whom brought her joy in her later years. She is also survived by her brother, Coy Truman Smith.
She was preceded in death by her father, T.H. Smith; her mother, Alice Christine Smith; her brother, Wendall Dean Smith; her sister, Darla Kay Smith; her brother, Connie Mac Smith; and her brother, Merle Ross Smith.
Jackie will be missed by all who knew her. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
