Gene Paul Moore

August 23, 1937 — December 4, 2025

Roswell

Gene Paul Moore, 88, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather known for his dedication to family, hard work, deep faith, and enjoyment of simple pleasures, passed away peacefully at his Roswell home on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Born on August 23, 1937, in Borger, Texas, Gene carried a strong work ethic throughout his life. He served his country with honor in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1963. Gene applied his expertise across several accomplished careers, working as an oilfield consultant, a certified pipeline welder, and a truck driver. He later dedicated a decade of service to his local community, working for the City of Roswell in the Parks Department before retiring.

Gene and his wife Lynn were active and devoted members of the Methodist Church. Gene's faith was a cornerstone of his life; he was deeply involved in several church functions and programs, including Kairos Prison Ministry and the Walk to Emmaus. A testament to his servant heart, he also volunteered as the Coordinator for the Crossings program at the Roswell Correctional Center. In addition to his ministry work, Gene volunteered his time to help out with the Boy Scouts.

In his downtime, Gene enjoyed the comfort of his home, often found watching television—especially Fox News, football, and Jeopardy!—while indulging in his favorite treats: Blue Bunny ice cream and sweet iced tea.

Gene's life was centered around his family and his church community. He shared a loving and enduring partnership with his wife, Virginia Lynn Moore.

He is preceded in death by his father Frank T. Moore, his mother Geraldine Lipps, his son Dean David Demaray, his daughter Jeaneen McIntosh, and his grandson K.C. Elhard.

Gene's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his surviving family: his beloved wife Virginia Lynn Moore; his children Frank Trent Moore, James Henry Sparks, Douglas Karl Demeray, Cathy Davis, and Rhonda Elhard; his 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Gene's life will be held at the First United Methodist Church located at 200 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Roswell, NM 88201, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm.
