Gary was born July 26,1941, in Rochester, New York. He worked for Kodak for 20 years making films and Xray films. In 1989, he took the buyout from Kodak. In 1990, Gary, his wife Judy, and the cat, moved to Roswell, NM. After a year and a half in Roswell, he joined the Enchanted Square Dance Club. For 17 years, we danced all over the state, and around Roswell. In 2007, he became the secretary for the state festival that year. He also served on the board of directors for Enchanted Squares. He was a member of the senior circle, and friends of the Roswell public library. For 20 years, he was a member of the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center Auxiliary. For 18 years he worked in the gift shop making Starbucks coffee, a position he loved. He also served in the auxiliary treasurer. He was a diehard New York Mets fan. Several years ago, he got a chance to see the Mets play in the old Shea Stadium. He was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church and for several years he was the editor of the church newsletter.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Howard and Emily Borst; his sister Diane Borst Manning Berg; Daughter, Lori; and grandson, Justin.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his sons Scott and Wendy; Kevin; step-children, Laurie and fiancé Bill; and step-son Peter and his wife Melissa; Nine grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; sister in law and brother in law Virginia and Duke; Niece, Michelle; Nephew Matt; and numerous friends.
He would like to thank Interim Hospice; Jamie, Laura, Kim, Sarah, Mary Elizabeth, Melva, Amy, Miranda, Ovette and Dr. Herrin for all the support over the many years.

In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask that a donation be made to the American heart association or the American lung association.
A memorial service in honor of Gary will be held on August 20, 2025, 11:00am, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Roswell, NM.
There will be a luncheon following the memorial service.
