Fita Padilla, age 93, passed peacefully in Brighton, Colorado, on October 18, 2025, surrounded by loving family. Fita's life began on August 15, 1932, in San Patricio, NM, to her parents, Petra & Diego Salcido, who preceded her in death. Fita is remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandma, great & Great-Great Gremo, aunt, cousin, God-mother & friend. She was married and shared her life with Salvador C. Padilla.
Fita was very involved at St. Johns Church as early as 1958 and very active until her stroke. Her children have memories of her washing, starching & pressing the priests robes, as well as the linens used at the alter at an early age. Fita was active in the Alter Society at St. John's. She was also involved in the Legion of Mary, was a Guadalupana and was a Eucharistic Minister taking communion to the sick, and Holy Hour at the first Saturday of every month. She also served on Church Council. She was also involved in the Cursillo movement there. Fita was also in charge of all the preparations for The Divine Mercy Hour during Easter season. She was a cafeteria worker for several years at Mesa Jr High.
Fita is now celebrating life with a healed and glorified body in her "HEAVENLY HOME" with her husband Salvador, parents Diego & Petra Salcido, her brother Vicente, sisters Monica Sanchez, Mary Martinez, Nora Castrillo and her youngest son Christopher Padilla.
She leaves behind a life of strength and love carried on by her surviving sons and daughters; Fred, Salvador Jr. and wife Elena with 6 children, 9 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Granddaughter, Petra Chavez with 4 children, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, Effie and husband Juan Warner with 5 children, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. A deceased son, Christopher's 1 daughter and 2 grandchildren. And a sister, Della Lovato, of Roswell.
Her memory will live on through all who loved and knew her, she will truly be missed!
Pallbearers will be Esequiel Chavez lll, Michael J. Chavez, Salvador Padilla lll, Juan-Diego Warner, Omar Soto & Sabastian Galvan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kris Sambrano, Joesyha Soto, Michael Fountain, Tomas Fountain, James Fountain, Kayden Solis and Dominique Herrera.
Visitation for Fita will be on Thursday October 30th, 2-6pm at Ballard Funeral Chapel, 910 South Main St., Roswell, NM 88203.
A Rosary will be held on Friday October 31st, at 9:30am, with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 506 S Lincoln Ave, Roswell, NM 88203.
Graveside burial service will follow at South Park Cemetery.
