Filimon Baca Sr.
Filimon Baca was born on August 20th, 1939, in Picacho, NM to Lorenzo and Clara Horton Baca and Tile` Baca (Sister who raised him). Filimon passed on June 17th, 2025, in Roswell, NM surrounded by family.
A visitation to honor Filimon Baca’s life will be Friday, June 27th, 2025, from 10AM-2PM at Ballard Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2PM.
Filimon grew up in Picacho, NM. He completed the 2nd grade then went on to work as a field worker with his father and siblings. Filimon relocated to Roswell, NM to work as a ranch hand. He later in life became a tile worker and painter for the New Mexico Marble and Tile company. He took pride in his work as he helped lay the original tile at Goddard high School and the Federal building in Roswell, NM. Filimon enjoyed watching westerns while drinking coffee and eating sweets, especially cake. He was an extremely hard worker, great provider, and an amazing dad, brother, uncle, grandpa, cousin and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Clarita Horton Baca. Sons: Filimon Baca Jr, and Raymond Molina; Daughter’s: Tricia and Cindy Baca. Brothers: Charlie Horton, Ralph, Pedro, Joe and Celestino Baca (His Little Fat Buddy). Sisters: Tile `Baca (Who helped raise him), Margarita Uvalles and Modesta Renteria; Last but not least, his lifelong companion Virginia Sanchez-Baca, they had a very special bond and loved each other deeply –even if they couldn't always live side by side, they managed to always live a walking distance apart.
Surviving family members: Daughters: Mabel Baca, Ramona Molina, Veronica Sanchez, and Irene Baca. Sons: Vincent, Bernie, and Anthony Baca. Robert Sanchez. Nieces: Christine Salcido and Ernestine Gallegos. Nephew: Raymond Baca (Who he had a very special bond with) and wife Victoria of Roswell, NM. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
