Faustino "Tino" Barrera Nieto
Tino was born to Jose and Guadalupe Nieto on September 6, 1954 in Roswell, NM. He married his beloved wife JoAnn Flores on June 19, 1982. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, January 4, 2019 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel with Frankie Garcia officiating. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Church on The Move with Pastor Jim Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Friday, January 4, 2019 at Ballard Funeral Home.

Tino was a man of class, respect and integrity. He was a man of his word and his word was a good as gold. Tino was a "people person". Not only did he enjoy spending time with his family, but time spent with friends was also an important part of his life. He attended as many functions as he could; if it was important enough for someone to invite him, then it was important for him to show up.

Tino had a passion for skydiving that began with his first jump at the age of 19. During his skydiving career, he logged a total of 1,220 jumps which lead to the opportunity of becoming a jump master. As a jump master he trained and coached others to skydive with the same skill, care and expertise he was accustomed to. His first jump was in Albuquerque at the West Mesa in 1974. From there his affinity for skydiving grew and he began to travel pursuing his most adventurous hobby that kept him on an exciting journey. He made numerous jumps in New Mexico, California, Colorado, Arizona, Texas and Illinois. In Illinois, he received the DB Cooper award for parachuting from a 737 jet, which lead to 6 more jumps thereafter.

Tino also had a love for cars, lowriders in particular. His first car was a 1964 aqua and white Impala which he bought in 1974 from his stepfather, Ralph Macias. That was the beginning of yet another hobby of collecting and restoring cars. He loved frequenting low rider car shows all over Texas and New Mexico.

Motorcycles, another one of his many hobbies, in 1983 he bought his firsts Harley Davidson, a 1976 orange Sportster. He enjoyed the biker life style and enjoyed the company of the many friends he met among the biker community.

Among all his hobbies, his absolute favorite was spending time with his grandchildren. He used to love taking Jonathan and JoAnn for ice cream and he and Jadyn shared a rock collection.

Tino will be greatly missed by many people, but the passing of this beautiful soul has forever left a void in the hearts of his family. Though he is missed dearly we rejoice in knowing he is home with his mother Guadalupe Barrera Nieto; his father Jose Nieto; his beloved wife Jo Ann Flores Nieto; step-father Ralph Macias; his brother Jose Liazar Nieto; nephew Joseph Lopez; brother-in-law Robert Gibson; nephew Guillermo Diaz and other loved ones who have gone before him; especially our dear Lord who has healed him and taken his suffering and once again made him healthy, happy and whole.

Those left to caring on his memory are is his daughter Bianca Nieto Miranda and husband Lee Miranda Jr.; grandson Jonathan; granddaughters Jo Ann and Jayden; his son Santino Nieto and grandchildren Lia, Diamond, Malia, Chloe and Brandon; his daughter Mia Nieto Avitia and husband Edward and granddaughter Mia Jade; grandson Micheal Ramon Jr. and Ashley; great granddaughters Anamyah and Emaleigh; his daughter Larissa Nieto Castellanos and husband John; grandson Sammy and granddaughter Arianna; sisters Fay Orona, Sylvia Diaz and husband Willie, Yolanda Ornelas and Smiley, Esther Gibson and brothers Ralph Macias and Larry Nieto.

Serving as pallbearers are Milton Harper, Ferrel Wheeler, Joe De Los Santos, Albert Tegada, Jonathan Miranda and Corey Dear. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Avitia, Micheal Ramon, Lee Miranda, Fernando Diaz, Johnny Hernandez, Eric Ornelas, Isreal Ornelas, Diego Lopez, Orlando Aguilar and other nephews.
