Everett H. Gilbert, age 93, passed away at his home in Roswell, NM on July 2,2016. He was born on February 8,1923 in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Farmington, NH.

During WWII he served with the 10th Mountain Division as a military ski instructor and ski trooper. Following the war he married Ruth Clark and raised their two children.
He was always decent, kind, joyful and loving. He is deeply loved by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth C. Gilbert his brother Lawrence ("Red") and his sister Phyllis. He is survived by his children Michael Gilbert his wife Gail of San Antonio, TX and Cynthia Serrano her husband Robert of Roswell, NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren Maegan McWhorter, her husband Michael, Christopher Gilbert, his wife Amy and Brandon Gilbert, his wife Shana and his great grandchildren Jacob and Kaitlyn Tellez, Kaden, Grace and Olivia McWorther.

The Serrano and Gilbert families are deeply grateful to those who assisted with his care over the last six months while at home on hospice care - the medical staff and health aids at Gentiva Hospice - Dr. Stiller, Anita, Shirley, Glynn and Rosalia; in-home care givers, Patricia and Vicky; and Joe of the Joy Center, Meals on Wheels - always friendly and cheerful. Each enriched the quality of his life in meaningful and personal ways during the last few months. We also want to thank the staff at the Roswell Hand Clinic who demonstrated extraordinary professionalism by taking on extra duties allowing Cynthia Serrano and her family more time to care for their father and be together.

Each of us will have our own special memories that will live in our hearts forever.

A private funeral with the family is planned.
