Dixie Diane Edwards

August 18, 1950 — March 20, 2026

Dixie Diane Edwards was born on August 18, 1950 at the hospital in Lovington, New Mexico. Her parents were Maggie Florence Edwards and Zealey None Edwards, who have both predeceased her in death. Dixie had an older sister Patsy Joy Edwards Culp who has also predeceased her in death. Dixie has one son, Lonnie Wade Scott and a granddaughter, Taylor Jane Scott. During her early years Dixie grew up and lived in Maljamar, NM. She attended high school in Lovington, NM and graduated in 1968. Dixie graduated as an Honor Student. She was well known for her piano skills and for being the organist at First Presbyterian Church in Lovington. She attended Northwestern University Trust Department School in Evansville, Indiana in the mid to late 1970's.

Dixie spent most of her working career as a Trust Officer. She worked primarily for Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch, and for First American Bank towards the end of her working career. She was one of if not the best Trust Officer in Southeastern New Mexico. That was because she took exceptionally good care of her trust clients and their assets. Many of her clients always looked forward to her visits with them at her office but also in their homes scattered from ranches to towns all across Southern New Mexico. During her years in Roswell, she served on the Pecos Valley Jazz and Arts Festival Board. She loved playing basketball (horse) with Wade who was always the most important person in her life. Dixie seemed to constantly be working to make life better for her Trust Clients. If you could say she had a hobby it was reading murder mysteries.

Pall bearers for Dixie's service will be Ed Harris, Brooks Chaves, Dan Hardin, and Bud Kunkel. Honorary Pall Bearers are Panda Townsend, Diane Henderson, Jere Smith, and Manuel Sisneros.

Dixie wanted to be sure that Mabel B. Wise (her parrot) and Williow (her cat) were mentioned in her obituary.

In lieu of flowers, any donations are asked to be sent to the Assurance Home in Roswell. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Interim Hospice. Cathy VanWinkle with Comfort Keepers helped Dixie through her last several days. The family also appreciates the spiritual care provided by Rev. Brian Flamme from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roswell. We give thanks to God that Dixie confessed her faith in Christ, so we have confidence that she is at peace with Jesus and we will see her again in the Resurrection.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 10:00 am, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Roswell. Burial will follow, in Lovington, at 2:00 pm.
