Christopher Casarez

July 8, 1971 — November 28, 2018

Christopher Casarez is now in the Lords loving and compassionate care. Christopher was born July 8,1971 at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arthur Casarez and Cheryl Pennington Casarez. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Eduardo Espinosa officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Chris graduated from Roswell High School in 1989. He then spent one year at New Mexico State in Las Cruses, New Mexico. He transferred to Colorado University and then to the University of Colorado at Boulder. In 1999 he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines making the Honor role in 1998 and the Dean's List in 1999. After graduating he stayed in Colorado for a year building his skills and gaining experience in his field as a Structural Design Engineer. He then moved to California and joined the Caltran team working as a Structural Engineer in various office and field departments in rebuilding the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Suspension Bridge.

He also loved the broadcasting field and seriously considered TV and Video Production as another career option. He worked for a number of television stations as a technical director, video editor and a freelance photographer. Chris directed local 10 and 30-minute newscasts for various broadcasting facilities, was an assistant freelance photographer in the set-up and activation of live cut-ins for a high-profile court case; did video editing for clients of the Discovery Channel & Animal Planet and worked with a freelance team in the production of a live fundraising auction for PBS.

He is survived by his parents Arthur and Cheryl Casarez and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rosendo Casarez and Frances Daybell; aunts Teresa Casarez and Roberta Jacaway; uncles Mike Smith and Candelario Mendoza and cousin Wade Pennington.

Son, we love you so very much and will miss you bunches! May God bless you and keep you.
