Christina Gutierrez-Finley

June 30, 1976 — June 27, 2025

Christina Maria Gutierrez-Finley was born June 30, 1976 to Lieandro and Bentura “Connie” Gutierrez in Roswell, New Mexico. With her loving husband by her side, she joined her beloved parents in Heaven on June 27, 2025 after a very short battle with cancer and complications from blood clots as a result of the cancer. Christina attended Missouri Avenue Elementary and Mesa Middle School, then graduated from Roswell High School in 1994. During high school, she danced at Miss Minnie’s School of Ballet and cheered for RHS. She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in business administration in 1998, where she also danced. Shortly afterward she married the love of her life, George Finley III. They found themselves in Alaska for 3 1/2 years, as George was in the Airforce at the time. After returning to Roswell to settle permanently, they had George IV in 2004 and Leanna in 2008. Christina worked for the Roswell Independent School District in the business office as the payroll specialist for over 23 years. She also taught Zumba at the Roswell Racquet Club for many years.

Christina will forever be remembered for her kindness. She was always smiling and laughing. She was an amazing dancer. She had a special bond with her parents, eating lunch with them every weekday for years and years until her dad’s passing two years ago. Crissy, as she was known by those close to her, loved spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors. She went out of her way to make people feel welcomed.

Christina was a devoted Catholic who faithfully attended church every Sunday. She and George raised George and Leanna to live by faith as well. Christina was excited to see George graduate from college this year and looked forward to cheering Leanna on in sports this fall. She was a great mom, nina, and aunt. Her children’s friends even looked up to her like a mom. Family meant everything to her and she meant everything to her family.

Christina joined her parents, Lieandro and Connie, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members in Heaven. She left behind her husband, George, her children, George IV and Leanna, her brother Dr. Leandro Gutierrez and his wife, Sarah, daughters, Sydney and Taya, Sarah’s sons, Billy and Liam, her brother Ramon “Ray” Gutierrez, his wife Hannah, and his children Lukas, Mikah, and Khloe, and Hannah’s children Emily and Zane. She is also survived by her mother and father-in law, Kay and George Finley Jr, sister-in-law Shannon and her husband Trent Zeigler, sister-in-law Jennifer and her husband Chris Sommers, and her Ohio nephews Riley Zeigler, Dakotah Sommers, and Keegan Sommers. Her cousins Bess Lerma, Linda Wiley, Doreen Mendiola, Adam Gutierrez, Sophia Medina, Vicky Gutierrez, Debbie Hall, Gary Gonzalez, Clifford “Coco” Gonzalez, Clarissa Gonzalez-Adams, Gene Gutierrez, and Michael Gutierrez loved and miss her. Sheila, Nena, and Phyllis Gutierrez are her loving aunts.

Please join Crissy’s family on July 19 at 9:30AM for the Rosary and 10:00AM for the services at St. Peter Catholic Church in Roswell, New Mexico as they bid her farewell. Inurnment will follow at General Douglas McBride Veterans Cemetery. There will be a reception to follow at the American Legion. Her family would like to thank the staff at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Diane and Dick Taylor, and Susan Murphy for their care and compassion, and all of the friends and family members who have been there to love and support George and the kids in the last few weeks.
