Charles Shane Vaughn “Charlie” , 50, of Roswell, New Mexico, passed away on May 30, 2026.
Charlie was born on November 7, 1975, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Robert Charles Vaughn and Shirley Freeman. He worked as a plumber and was known for his strong work ethic, outgoing personality, quick wit, and unforgettable stories. While he often kept to himself and didn’t have a large circle of friends, those who knew him knew he had a big heart and a sense of humor that could light up any room.
Charlie loved NASCAR, football, 90s country music, and spending time on the porch with a cold Coors Light while listening to his favorite songs. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, river trips, and relaxing at the lake. He took pride in his yard and was always making sure his grass stayed green. He never met a random fact he didn’t want to share and always had a story ready to tell.
Above all else, Charlie loved his family. He shared 28 years with the love of his life, Lori Darlin Reed. Their relationship had its ups and downs, but at the end of the day they were together like fire and gasoline—strong-willed, passionate, and deeply devoted to one another. He was a proud father who loved his children dearly and never stopped caring for them.
Charlie was preceded in death by his best friend, Jayd Anthony Lee, his mother-in-law, Donice Ford, and his brother-in-law, Aaron Taylor.
He is survived by his beloved companion, Lori Darlin Reed of Roswell, New Mexico; his son, Sheldon Lee Vaughn of Roswell, New Mexico; his daughter, Leeann Marie Vaughn & wife Cezely Torres, of Odessa, Texas; his stepdaughter, Ashley Cadena, and husband, Saul Cadena of Odessa, Texas; his parents, Shirley Blaylock of Abilene, Texas, and Robert Charles Vaughn; his brother, Robert Wayne Vaughn of Odessa, Texas; his sister, Tina Marie Smallwood of Abilene, Texas; sisters-in-law Stephanie & husband, Skylar Miller, of Roswell, NM and Renee & husband, Martin Sosa, of Roswell, New Mexico; and his grandchildren, Lily Cadena, Ryan Cadena, and Chloe Cadena; his father-in-law Buddy Lee Ford, & companion, Susie Falkner, of Roswell, NM. And his grand puppies cow, nala and yeti.
Charlie also leaves behind his beloved dogs mini coop and rosco , whom he adored, and countless family members who will forever remember his stories, laughter, stubborn spirit, and the love he had for those closest to him.
Visitation for Charlie will be on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Ballard Funeral Chapel, 910 S. Main St, Roswell, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, with his Funeral Service to follow at 2:00pm. He will be laid to rest following his funeral service, at South Park Cemetery, 3101 S. Main St. Roswell.
“We’ll miss hearing your stories, your random facts, your country music playing in the background, and seeing you standing on the porch enjoying the day. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the love. Until we meet again, dad .”
