Charles Heimmermann

February 14, 1936 — May 16, 2025

Charles (Charlie) Heimmermann

Charles (Charlie) Heimmermann, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Roswell on May 16, 2025 with his family by his side.

Charlie was born in Mackville, Wisconsin on February 14, 1936 to Benedict and Gladys Heimmermann.

Charlie served in the Air Force from 1955-1959 and was stationed in Germany where he was a crypto operator in the intelligence department. After he was discharged from the Air Force, he met his future wife, Marilyn Nowak. They were married in Appleton, Wisconsin in 1961 and shared 64 years together raising two children, Dean and Debbie.

He loved music, especially Jazz, and enjoyed burning CDs of his vast collection for friends and family. He liked to challenge others to ‘name that artist’, and if anyone asked him to do the same, he would have the answer.

Charlie was also an avid sports enthusiast. A life-long Green Bay Packers fan, he attended the infamous Ice Bowl in 1967. When Dean and Debbie were in school, he would follow them to all of their sporting events like only a father could. He collected sports memorabilia, and during the 1990s, operated a sports card and memorabilia shop in Roswell called Knothole Card Shop. He made many friends trading cards and loved giving them to kids and donating them to the First Tee program.

He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker with his friends, and spending Saturday nights with his family playing Tripoley. He was not shy to let you know he was ‘the champ’ when he won.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Dean (Trish) Heimmermann of Florida and Debbie (Jimmy) Stout of Roswell; and sister Carole (Greg) Lamers of Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benedict and Gladys Heimmermann.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Church, 111 E. Deming in Roswell. His ashes will be buried in Appleton, Wisconsin at a later date.

A special thank you to the nursing staff at Gentiva Hospice and the caregivers from Comfort Keepers for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the First Tee program or a charity of your choice.

In the end, only three things matter:

how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how

gracefully you let go of the things not meant for you.
