Blanche Maxine Murphy

September 26, 1922 — February 4, 2026

Roswell

Blanche Maxine Lewis was born in Topeka, Kansas, September 26, 1922. She married Starr J. Murphy when they were 17 and 19 years old. Shortly after they married, my father left for Germany to serve in World War II. He served four years during World War ll and came home to my mother after the war. He preceded her in death in 1973.
Blanche left Topeka 20 years ago to come to Roswell, New Mexico to join her only child Dianne and her husband, Mike Alber. She embraced the Roswell community and enjoyed spending time with her daughter, and Son-in-law, their two children, Tony Alber and his wife, Jen and their two sons, Nick and Nathan Alber, who live in Mesa, Arizona.
She is also survived by her granddaughter, Jessica Tilbury and her husband, Josh and their two sons, Dane and Drew, who reside in Bow, New Hampshire. The great grandsons affectionately referred to my mom as "Nat Nat".

She made many good friends in Roswell and enjoyed playing rummy cube with her girlfriends at North Springs. She was an active member of Grace Community Church for many years, and attended on a regular basis.
The last 10 years of her life, she was at Mission Arch Nursing Home and Care Center. The staff there did a remarkable job of caring for my mother. There was never a time I lost trust in the fact that she was getting love and very special care from Mission Arch. Our family owes them a great deal of gratitude for the service they provided for my mother and for us. Thank you, Mission Arch.
Blanche loved chocolate, and ice cream, animals, birds, music, and playing cards with her grandchildren.
My mom was a remarkable and cherished person in our family. She was one of the kindest, most tender human beings I have ever known. She was a person of great faith. She loved deeply, and would sacrifice anything to help others. She will be missed by all of us, and I know she will be joining my dad and the Lord in heaven.
There will be no service in Roswell, but a graveside service, including family in Topeka, as she will be laid to rest beside my dad.
If you feel compelled, other than cards, you may make a donation the Occupational therapy department at Mission Arch, that department is so great at providing activities and crafts for the residents there, or their recreational fund, or to the Roswell Humane Society as my mother was an animal lover.
Blanche died on February 4, 2026....She was 103 years old.
