A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the Hagerman Cemetery for Bennie Frances Daubert, 94, a resident of Dexter who passed away Monday, September 4, 2017. Jack Ferguson will officiate. Visitation will be scheduled for Friday, September 8, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Ballard Funeral Home.
Bennie was born March 31, 1923, in Ranger, Texas to Ben and Elizabeth Barton. The family moved to Dexter in the spring of 1938 where Bennie attended and graduated from Dexter High School. On December 23, 1942, Bennie married Walter Daubert.
Bennie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Walter, her brothers Chester, Bob, and Gaylon Barton; her sisters Nancy Brisco, Nell Herring, and Yvonne Permenter; and her son Kerry Daubert.
Bennie is survived by her sister Zora Mae Franklin (Paul), her children Mitch Daubert (Rissie) and Walda Woodruff (Jim); her grandchildren Melisa Daubert, Heather Amaro (Frankie), Stephanie King (Mike), Teresa Woodruff, Jami Woodruff, Rebecca Whisenhunt (Eric), Mandy Ford (Matt), and Jeremy Daubert (Stephanie); her great grandchildren Micaylie, Jaden, Jarren, Shelton, Sierra, Sadie, Briar, Lora, Sammy, Rylan, Aden, Ethan, Brooke, Cutter, and one on the way.
Through the years Bennie worked at Osborn Grocery, Spier Grocery, and a small clothing store in Dexter. Later she worked with handicapped children, first at Villa Solano and then Tobosa. Bennie was a faithful Christian and served her church in many ways. She was secretary of the Dexter Baptist Church, sang in the choir, and faithfully provided Christmas boxes each year for community service. She loved Cowboy Church and always provided food for the many functions at the church.
Bennie was a loving wife, mother, and Nana. Through the years she was known for her cooking, sewing (each of her kids always had quilts!) and spoiling her grandkids - providing them with crafts and many projects. She could be seen every day in her yard - always the prettiest on the block -nurturing her many colorful flowers.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Daubert, Matt Ford, Jaden Amaro, Jarren Amaro, Rylan Ford, and Frankie Amaro.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, Box 629, Portales, NM 88130 or a charity of your choice.
