Through the years Bennie worked at Osborn Grocery, Spier Grocery, and a small clothing store in Dexter. Later she worked with handicapped children, first at Villa Solano and then Tobosa. Bennie was a faithful Christian and served her church in many ways. She was secretary of the Dexter Baptist Church, sang in the choir, and faithfully provided Christmas boxes each year for community service. She loved Cowboy Church and always provided food for the many functions at the church.
Bennie was a loving wife, mother, and Nana. Through the years she was known for her cooking, sewing (each of her kids always had quilts!) and spoiling her grandkids - providing them with crafts and many projects. She could be seen every day in her yard - always the prettiest on the block -nurturing her many colorful flowers.
