Benita Sedillo

Benita Romero Sedillo, of Dexter, NM, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 in Dexter, NM.

Benita was born May 23, 1942 in Balmorhea, TX to Joseph Romero, and Paula Chacon.

Benita married the love of her life Gilbert Sedillo in 1958.

Benita ("Bennie") worked in the cosmetology industry for the majority of her life. She found great satisfaction in creating beautiful hairstyles throughout her career. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, working in her rose and flower gardens, cooking, sewing, and watching the QVC station on TV. She loved to laugh, talk, tell jokes, and stories.

Preceded in death by father Joseph Romero; mother Paula Chacon; husband Gilbert Sedillo; sisters Christine Villa and Patsy Sosa; brothers Sammy Romero, Abel Romero, Richard Romero, Rudy Romero, Raymond Romero, and great-grandson Gabriel Luiz.

She is survived by her son Roger Sedillo of Dexter, NM; daughters, Loretta Sedillo of Roswell, NM, Lorena Tarin and husband Augustin, of Roswell, NM, Linda Aranda and husband Joe, of Roswell, NM; tias, Lupe Narbiaz, of Roswell, NM, Tomasita Romo, of Roswell, NM; brothers, Ismael "Mimo" Romero, of Roswell, NM; sisters, Eloisa Pena, of Arizona, Mary Jane Cobos, of Roswell, NM, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers are Gilbert Tarin, Timothy Butts, Samuel Sedillo, Michael Luiz, Daniel Flores, and Nicholas Tarin. Honorary pallbearers, Angelica "Sugar" Velasquez and Joseph Weimer.

As an honorary mention; The Sedillo Family would like to provide their deepest gratitude for all of the assistance, support, and loving care provided by Bennie's friends, Patricia Sanchez and Lourdes Ortiz.

Rosary will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, 10:30AM at Ballard Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
