Barbara A. Brandt

Barbara A. Brandt (Penland) passed away at the age of 91 years old on Sunday, December 17, 2023 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was a long-time nurse who graduated in the first nursing class at ENMUR in 1969 earning her RN. She then began working at Saint Mary's until the facility closed down and transitioned to ENMMC. During her tenure she had accomplishments such as house supervisor, case coordinator, director of medical floor and later an auxiliary volunteer as a helping hand in any capacity needed at the facility. She was married to James Richard Patterson who passed away in 1987. Many years later she married Laverne Walter Brandt who has since passed on before her. She and Laverne served in ministry as well as attended Grace community church for 24 years faithfully until they were unable to anymore.

Barbara is survived by her son Kraig Leon Patterson, Grandson Kraig Matthew Patterson and granddaughter Monica Ann Patterson as well as many nieces, nephews, and other family members who she dearly loved in her home state of Illinois. She lived life to the fullest and never knew a stranger as she was kind to any and everyone.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at South Park Cemetery.
