Alonzo Perez, beloved father, grandfather, and cherished companion, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Roswell, New Mexico. Born on August 17, 1979, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Alonzo lived a life marked by his dedication to family, his vibrant spirit, and the warmth he shared with those around him.
Alonzo spent much of his life working as a cook, dishwasher, and construction worker. He was known for his strong work ethic and zest for life—he loved earning money and enjoyed spending it, embracing the joys that life had to offer. Beyond his professional pursuits, Alonzo had many passions and talents that enriched his days. A man of creativity, he enjoyed writing poetry, reading, drawing, coloring, and painting. His love for music and dance revealed his lively character, and he was the quintessential Raiders fan, fervently supporting his team. He also took great pleasure in working in his yard and staying active on the go. Lounging on the simple comforts of life, Alonzo loved Amy’s posole and all kinds of sweets. Always taking pride in his appearance, he liked to look good and smell fresh.
Most significantly, Alonzo’s heart belonged to his family. He found immense happiness and true meaning through the love he shared with his longtime companion, Amy Serrano, who was the light of his life and his home. Together, they built a life filled with love and companionship. Alonzo was a devoted father to his only daughter, Alyssa Perez, whom he adored deeply. His pride only grew as he became a grandfather to his cherished grandson, Azamani Azai, and granddaughter, Amira Faye. His family was everything to him, and he was their unwavering protector, always ready to do whatever was needed for their well-being. He was also a member of the Casa del Rey Christian Church, in Albuquerque, NM.
Alonzo’s love extended beyond his human family. He was a passionate dog lover and cared for five beloved dogs: Max, Reina, Chubbz, Chief, and Harmony—and if circumstances allowed, he would have welcomed more into his home. His affection for children and his willingness to help others reflected the vastness of his generous and kind spirit. Known for his big heart, Alonzo would offer the shirt off his back for anyone in need.
He carried deep admiration for his sister Nancy Perez & husband Eugenio Feliciano, whose strength, love, and faith inspired him and gave him hope. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings Early John Miles, Jr. and Dena Miles Randolph & husband Marvin, and held in lasting memory alongside his late mother Enidena Rodriguez, father Antonio Perez, sister Maria "Lisa" Miles, nephew Joe Ray Morales, and nephew Eric Rodriguez.
Alonzo Perez’s life was one of love, dedication, and sincere kindness. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the family who will forever hold his memory dear.
