Adeline Marie Saltzman, a cherished member of her community and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, in Roswell, New Mexico. Born on March 11, 1937, in Irma, Wisconsin, Adeline lived a life marked by unwavering faith, boundless love for her family, and a compassionate spirit that touched many.
Raised in her hometown of Irma, Adeline’s journey was deeply rooted in her faith in Jesus and her profound commitment to those she loved. She dedicated over fifteen years as a foster parent, opening her heart and home to children in need, reflecting her nurturing nature and steadfast generosity. Known affectionately as Addie, she was fortunate throughout her life to have been loved by three men, whom she cherished dearly.
In the 1990s, Addie relocated to New Mexico, settling in Carlsbad. Here, she forged a successful career as a retired hairdresser and landlord, engaging in purchasing, selling, and renting properties—a pursuit she maintained with dedication until her ascent to heaven. Her entrepreneurial spirit combined seamlessly with her caring nature, making her a respected and admired figure in her community.
Addie held a deep affection for the color purple and butterflies, symbols that remind us of her gentle and vibrant presence. One of her proudest accomplishments was her instrumental role in advocating for special needs children, contributing significantly to changing laws to include these children in classrooms, thereby fostering inclusivity and understanding.
Adeline’s family was central to her life, and she is survived by her sons Carl Boettcher of Roswell; Joel Boettcher of Hobbs; Michael Boettcher and his wife Ann Shade of Stoughton, Wisconsin; and Mark Pranke of Roswell. She also leaves behind her beloved daughter, Suzette Kane, and her spouse Joey, both of Roswell. Her enduring legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jeremiah Kane, Karissa Kane, Cassy (Leo) Lopez, Chira (Mark) Klein, as well as her great-grandchildren: Kayla Underwood, Summer Kane, Roman, Joey, Jonathan, Adelina Lopez, Bane Campbell, and Calie Klein. Great-great grandchildren: Kaleb & Nylah Lopez.
She was also survived by her brothers Arnold Lange of Merrill, Wisconsin, and Harmen Lange of Oregon. Adeline was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Lange and Jenny Peterson Lange; her husbands Leslie Boettcher, David Saltzman, and DA Wells; her sister and brother-in-law Marceille and Eugene Schmidt; her brother and sister-in-law Everett and Helen Lange; as well as brothers Elden Lange and Delmar Lange. She also mourned the loss of her granddaughter, Anna Marie Kane.
The community and family will gather to honor Adeline’s remarkable life at the Ballard Chapel on May 4, 2026. The viewing will take place from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM, immediately followed by the funeral service from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. These services will provide a cherished opportunity to remember Addie’s stubborn, fiesty spirit, enduring kindness and the profound impact she had on those who knew her. She managed family and affairs well. Because Addie loved the color purple, the family is requesting friends and family to wear purple with them, to show your love and respect for Addie.
Adeline Marie Saltzman’s life was a tapestry of love, service, and resilience. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her, and her legacy of faith, family, and advocacy will live on in the hearts of many. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
The family would also like to thank Addie's home care worker, Stephanie Acosta, and the rest of the staff.
