Patricia Goodwin

August 29, 1932 — January 6, 2020

Patricia (Pat) A. Goodwin passed away peacefully on January 6, 2020, at the age of 87, in Roswell, NM.  Pat was born and raised in Grand Junction, CO.  Services will be held Monday January 13, 2020 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Roswell.

Pat was born August 29, 1932 in Grand Junction, CO to Forrest and Edna Dowell.  After high school, Pat attended nursing school in Denver, CO for a year where she met Richard A. Goodwin, who was in the United States Air Force stationed at Lowery AFB.  After a two-year courtship, Pat and Richard were married in Denver, CO on August 30, 1952.  Pat was a loving wife and mother supporting her husband and kids during Richard’s frequent absences from home due to military commitments.  After Richard’s retirement from the military in 1970, they moved back to Roswell and became active members of the First United Methodist Church and community.  Pat volunteered and worked at the First United Methodist Church in Roswell as a secretary and receptionist for over 40 years, with much of her time dedicated to the Cowboy Bell Scholarship Program.  She served as Jesus would, through her kind smile and humble disposition, while having only encouraging and kind words to say to and about everyone she came across.  Pat’s loving dedication to her family also extended into her friendships and church family.  She had a steadfast faith and love for Jesus in her heart that will leave a lasting legacy for her family and friends.  We will all strive to be more like her.  Knowing her time with us was ending, she openly welcomed the opportunity to be and walk with Jesus.

Pat is survived by her husband Richard and two children, their son Robert and his wife Ginger of Colorado Springs, CO and daughter Lynda (Goodwin) Brown of Roswell, NM. Their grandchildren are Tom Goodwin and his wife Brianna of Colorado Springs, CO; Traci (Goodwin) Hendrickson and her husband Garrett of Owasso, OK; James Brown and his wife Stephanie of Roswell, NM; and David Brown and his wife Kacy of Roswell, NM.  Pat and Richard also have eleven great-grandchildren.  Maxon and Thayer Goodwin of Colorado Springs, CO; Grace, Olivia, Emery, and Lane Hendrickson of Owasso, OK; Cameron and Luke Brown of Roswell, NM; and Landry, Drake, and Ridge Brown of Roswell, NM.  She was also survived by her sisters, Betty Drake and husband Paul of Moab, UT; Mary Taylor of Grand Junction, CO; Florence Porter and husband Charlie of Cortez, CO; sister-in-law Mary B Goodwin of Mashpee, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Pat was preceded in death by her parents; brother Carl Dowell; and brothers-in-law Edmund Goodwin and Jim Taylor.
