Maria Castillo

April 19, 1954 — October 27, 2019

Emma Castillo

Emma Castillo was born in Chalchihuites, Zacatecas, Mexico on April 19, 1954 and passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019. She was the eldest of ten children. When she was nineteen she married Emilio Castillo.

In the mid 80’s they moved to Roswell, NM where they raised their children. Emma was a devoted homemaker and a childcare provider for many years.  She loved cooking, gardening, crocheting, music, taking care of her family and a good laugh with friends and family.  If you ever had the opportunity to try her cooking, you can consider yourself lucky.  Especially, her famous sopita!  Emma had a way of making people feel special and impacted so many people throughout her walks of life.  She was a hard worker and taught her children to be the same way, but there is no comparison to what she could complete in one day verses a normal person.  Emma was a superwoman and a warrior who fought for what she believed in.

Emma will be remembered as a selfless loving wife and mother who always had a smile even when times were tough.  She had a silent strength.  She never complained and always looked to a better future for family and friends.

Emma was ever calm and serene in her Catholic faith.  She had a special place in her heart for Saints and always prayed.  Her character and strength was shown especially during her final days.  Living every moment she was given with faith in God and always graceful until he called her home.

She is survived by her husband Emilio Castillo; her children Maria Castillo, Nora Castillo, Cruz Castillo, Isabel Coronado and her husband Mark Coronado, Emilio Castillo and his wife Veronica Castillo, their children Emilio Dominic Castillo and Zachary Alexander Castillo, Guillermo Castillo and his wife Sulema Castillo, their children Sabryna Gomez and her son Nathaniel Lujan, Arianna Mendoza and her husband Willie Mendoza and her daughter Elissia Mendoza, Abel Gomez and Adam Gomez.  Her mother Alicia Sarellano; sisters Rosa Maria Ruvalcaba, Maria Luisa Ruvalcaba De Lazaro, Maria Cruz Ruvalcaba, Francisca Ruvalcaba, Isabel Ruvalcaba and Carmen Guzman; brothers Vicente Ruvalcaba and Carlos Ruvalcaba.

She is preceded in death by her father Jose Guadalupe Ruvalcaba and brother Jose Guadalupe “Minero” Ruvalcaba.

She will always be missed and remembered by her family and friends.
