Suzie Van Winkle

Suzie (Kerry) Van Winkle, age 67, of Roswell was called home to the Father on September 19, 2019 after succumbing to a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born on October 15, 1951 in Atlantic, Iowa to the home of Earl E. Jr. and Doris (Dory) Phillips.

Suzie is preceded in death by her parents Earl E. Jr and Doris Phillips.

Suzie moved to Roswell in 1961 where she graduated from Goddard High School and Eastern New Mexico University where she obtained a degree in Physical Education. In 1976 she married Richard Van Winkle and together raised two wonderful children, Roby and Kelli. Suzie volunteered at their children’s schools and supported the Goddard High School Woman’s Golf Team. She was a long-time member of the Roswell Woman’s Club where she served as secretary and chaired the scholarship and scrapbook committees. Suzie was also a member of First United Methodist Church here in Roswell. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Suzie is survived by her husband Richard Van Winkle of Roswell, New Mexico; son Roby and wife Jamie Van Winkle of Los Alamos, NM; daughter Kelli and husband Patrick Fox of Roswell, New Mexico; and brother Eddie and wife Sonia Phillips of Roswell, New Mexico. She was also blessed with grandsons Jacoby Van Winkle, Harper Van Winkle, and Brody Fox and granddaughter Stevi Fox. Suzie is also survived by her nephew Matt and wife Amanda Phillips of Kuai, Hawaii and great-nieces Lilly and Dovey Phillips.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday September 24, 2019 at South Park Cemetery with John Fuss officiating.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Roswell Woman’s Club Scholarship Fund 3 Granite Circle Roswell, NM 88201 or the Roswell Humane Society. The family wishes to extend a big thank you to her friends that supported her through the good and bad times.
